My Children

No apologies for being a terrible blogger...if you want more up to date happenings - I hope you're on facebook! Just wanted to post a few more recent photos of my quickly growing children and an update for each. First there is Ava: Photobucket Ava just turned 7 a week and a half ago. She had a fun water party in our backyard with several friends. We attended her first play/show together (w/Elise) to go see her Aunt Kelly in, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Ava thoroughly enjoyed it and may have caught the acting bug. That same night I bought my 7 year old daughter size 7 Women's shoes!! She's going to be one tall girl judging by the size of those paws! Ava is a super reader and also excels at Math. She's currently reading the first Harry Potter. It's been fun to ask her where she's at in the book so we can laugh or talk about what is going on. She's quite precocious and it sometimes gets her in trouble. She's a great big sister to Elise and Jake and can be very helpful (when she chooses to be!) Elise: Photobucket Elise turned 5 this spring and had a fun party at the gymnastics academy in town. She really enjoys gymnastics and is a bit of a powerhouse. Elise is really catching onto reading this summer. I keep thinking, "how does she know that??" She's very proud of herself and we're proud of her too. Elise loves to sing and is like a walking radio, making up tons of songs or singing to the ones she knows. We've got lots of video and sound clips of her making up very sweet or silly songs. Elise is very loving. Several teachers in Sunday School at church have mentioned how sweet it is (and possibly disruptive) that Elise loves to go up to her big sister Ava and give her lots of hugs. She has become fairly obedient this year. I love that I can ask her to do something once (most of the time), like get dressed or feed the dogs, etc., and then turn around and she is actually doing it! Jake: Photobucket Jake will be 2 in just a couple of days!! I can't believe it. We will celebrate with family and of course have a Thomas the Train cake. He is a tall boy with curly blonde hair. He LOVES Thomas the Train and knows all the names of the trains amazingly. He is a master of my iphone. He knows how to scroll without pushing buttons, knows how to play "favorites" on youtube (Thomas of course), is excellent with matching games and has also become quite good at putting puzzle pieces together. He likes to play with his trains, loves to play in the water (including puddles, or dishes in the sink full of water - sigh, and getting cups to fill with water from our refrigerator and then dumping them on the flooe.), and likes to dance. He's not big on veggies but LOVES milk! He is not a great sleeper which has been a little rough on Mommy & Daddy, but somehow we all get the important things done.

County Fair August 2011

Our kids really love going to the local County Fair each year. We used to go just to see the animals and sample some fair foods, but now the girls are into all of the rides. This year our family of 5 went with Aunt Kelly, Uncle Eric, Aunt Gaia and cousin Kate. I don't love the atmosphere much and always feel pretty ripped off and am usually the first one ready to go BUT I know the kids had a great time - can't you tell?

Elise likes to "joke around" with the animals. She ALWAYS has a good time - a very happy child.

The girls LOVED the swings, one of my all-time favorite rides too.

I love the expressions in this one - especially on Elise's face!
